I WAS JUST AT THE FIRST TIME EVER THE INCREDIBLES SCREENING ANYWHERE!!!!

incredpic.jpgActually I'm not 100% sure that's true but the rep told me so and also told me that security on this title is tighter than spandex pants on a middleaged superhero's hiny. he had to lug the film cans out to the corporate-plex for us media types in the weeeeeee early hours of the morning.

You ain't gettin a review yet but for some scattered thoughts be sure to read on.

The Incredibles lives up to it's name and the name of Pixar. So what are these guys gonna do for an encore? Make a movie that stinks? I say TheIncredibles II is in order, even though we got a nifty trailer for their 2005 film Cars.

We also got a look at one of the best Pixar shorts ever, Boundin', which features a dancing sheep, a leaping jackalope and nifty little poemed voiceover.

As for The Incredibles itself prepare ye the way of the movie that will rock the Holiday box office. Really, really funny, warm human, and full of jaw dropping superhero action this is truly Brad Bird's hefty raspberry at those who dismissed his now considered classic The Iron Giant (due out on Special Edition DVD in November stateside). Look for geeks to line up at least twice.

Pixar's concentration on storytelling, and command of technique, is almost enough to make you forget you're watching an animated film, The music harkens back to classic kids cartoons like Johnny Quest but then again there are comic, TV and film references strewn all through the different aspects of the film and Pixar's creative team seems to know no bounds in paying homage.

You've all seen the trailers by now and get the basic gist- Mr. Incredible, now retired, is trying to forget the glory days and live a normal life with his family (all of whom are also superpowered). One evil plot after another leads to the inevitable donning of the old super duds.

One side note, Brad Bird himself does the voice of one of the funniest characters in the film Edna Mold, designer of superhero costumes and midget motivational speaker. A cross between Mad TV' Ms. Swan , Moa Tse Tung and Zsa Zsa Gabor this sharp tongued diva with the Elton John sunglasses will have you howling.

That' all yer gettin outta me.

Except that I saw it... first.
